Halloween 2011

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

We have been so busy lately that we hadn't gotten around to carving our pumpkin until...well the minute we got home from work. Jaxson helped a little bit...like by that I mean he removed one seed from the pumpkin. He kept saying "eeww gross"...he does not like being dirty

It was my job to clear the inside

And daddy arrived just in time to do the final carving

We got dressed for the big night of fun

Even daddy got into the Halloween spirit this year (he told Jaxson he was going to be a goose- like a silly goose. Jaxson fully expected him to walk into the kitchen dressed in a goose costume)

We headed over to our friends house the Amthors for some pre-trick or treating sno-cones and got ready to load the trailer for the night.

A night of fun and lots of sugar will be had...with lots of great memories for our adorable little football player.

24 weeks

This week marks 24 weeks into this pregnancy! WOW!! I can honestly say I'm starting to feel more and more pregnant and less and less of the second trimester wonderfulness! The size of my growing belly is no secret for sure! The lower back pain seems to catch up with me in the evenings and my hips are not loving the extra weight. Other than that I'm doing great. I could not be more lucky to have sweet Jaxson who loves to help and my sweet husband who is always helping. The other day I called Scott at home and said "hey I dropped the garage door opener between my legs and I can't bend over to reach it, can you open the garage for me"....yep that's a sign for sure of being 6 months pregnant!

Along with the 24 week check up comes our level 2 ultrasound. We were so excited for our ultrasound and another chance to get to see our sweet girl. When the nurse said she was head down I said "oh wow, well those must be her feet down there that I'm constantly feeling". She said no that's not likely her feet its probably her hands...but I was right! Our little one is curled up like you wouldn't believe! She had both of her hands and her feet up in front of her face...needless to say the nurse was surprised to see this! We got a good laugh! Our 3D pictures were not great...a bunch of hands, feet and a tiny little face but that's quite alright!

As part of the level 2 ultrasound they measure everything and review all of the development and location of the organs. This is to ensure that things are looking good and there's no need for concern. We were so happy to hear that she could not look more perfect! The next appointment includes my glucose test...I wonder if my craving for all things sugary and sweet will be a problem :)
I've seen my tummy move from the outside more and more but have yet to catch her in action for Scott or Jaxson to see. Now that she's over 12 inches and weighing in at 1.6 lbs I think she'll start to grow enough for us to see and feel the movement from the outside.

I have my c-section scheduled for February 8th...if I make it to that point we shall see. My baby center calendar tells me I have 108 days until my due date..which is really only 101 days until my c-section date since we scheduled this for day 1 of 39 weeks. WOW...when you look at it like that the time has sure gone by fast! We are so excited and blessed to have a good pregnancy so far and continue to pray for her health and mine for the remaining months!

Bailey's Bedding

When we found out we were having a girl I knew we would have a hard time finding something pre-made that I would fall in love with....I'm just a little picky, I'll be the first to admit. After looking into some etsy shops I knew that price tag was out of the question so the next best solution was to make the bedding. My very talented mom...the ex-home economics teacher was just the fit for my next big project. Turns out she made all of our baby bedding when each of us girls were babies...I was in luck!

So the next task would be to find fabric that was reasonably priced that both Scott and I agreed on....that can be challenging at times. I should mention that before we got married we left the store we were registering at because we could not agree on a towel color for the bathroom....we've come a LONG way!! As luck would have it Hobby Lobby had the most adorable fabric and happened to be our second stop on our fabric hunt. We both fell in love with it and knew it was exactly what we were looking for!

So Saturday was the big day, the supplies were purchased, the fabric was washed and pressed and I was ready to go.

We set up our sewing machines in our dining room and the hard work continued all afternoon. Mom did the bumpers and I did the skirt...we were quite the team!

Jaxson even stepped in to hold the bumpers up to help in the process.

We could not be more excited about the end result! We have a few ties to add to the front and need to flatten out the stuffing a little more, but what a fun day and project to do with my mom!

Jaxson talked to my belly a couple of times last night saying "Bailey your bed is ready"! He even got in the bed and tested that it was just perfect....and he's right it IS just perfect!!

Acorn Academy Fall Festival

Jaxson's school had their annual Fall Festival on Saturday morning, the weather was PERFECT for a morning of fun! Jaxson had a blast! I think he cleared them out of every plastic prize they had!

Jaxson was so nice to share his helmet with Daddy...its small on him, but does fit better on him than on Jaxson.

These holidays get more and more fun as he gets older and really gets into the spirit.

Jaxson's Super Awesome Room

One of the things we really wanted to do in getting the nursery ready was to give Jaxson a new play space in his bedroom that was "Super Awesome". We didn't want him to feel like he was losing his playroom, but getting a new space that was even more awesome than before. I'd seen this idea on Pinterest for this shelf that I thought would be perfect for his room. I summoned the team of skilled workers aka Scott...and after a day of work and a coat of paint the perfect shelf evolved!

I found these cute baskets at Michael's that have chalkboards on the front of them and thought they would be perfect for the shelf.

Friday night Jaxson helped move all of his toys into their new space and was so excited seeing his room transform.

Everything has a perfect new location and we are so excited at the end result. It is just perfect for him and exactly what we envisioned.

He will be the first one to tell you that his room is the new "Super Awesome Room"

A Pumpkin Treat

Tonight Jaxson and I made these adorable pumpkin rice krispie treats for an event at his school.
First we mixed up the ingredients just like you were making rice krispie treats

After they cooled in the fridge we rolled them into pumpkin balls....we made sure our hands were covered with butter...this little man does not like sticky stuff on his hands.

After the pumpkin balls were perfectly created

We gave them pumpkin stems...aka tootsie rolls

The finished treat is simply adorable

And absolutely delicious

I'm sure lucky to have such a great helper!

Lamp Re-do Project

Today I attempted one of my many projects for Bailey's room. I had bought this ugly lamp from Ikea (I snagged this picture online)

I love the shape of it and the pull chain to turn it on...but it lacked....ah well..it lacked pretty much everything else. So....I ripped the fabric off of it and recovered it with this bright fabric.

And added these super cute rosettes

I just love how it turned out and think it will be perfect for her beautiful room!

Cousins

Ian just adores Jaxson- it really is the cutest thing! We were trying to get a good smile out of him for his 9 month pictures and he was all serious...until Jaxson showed up and then he was all smiles!

Simply adorable!! Cousin Jaxson to the rescue!

Conversations with a 3 year old

Conversations with Jaxson and little comments he makes are so funny…I just can’t pass up the chance to write these down so we don’t forget them. Here’s some of the good ones from over the last few weeks:

• While at a wedding a few weeks ago Jaxson leans over to Scott and says “Daddy who is that guy up there on the cross”, to which Scott responded “That’s Jesus” and Jaxson with a confused face says “No Daddy Jesus is a baby”

• Jaxson is so good about saying Thank You, your welcome, he’ll randomly give you a I Love You or walk over just to give you a kiss- all of these sweet gestures he understands and is quick to remind you if you forgot to say thank you or your welcome. Well last night he’s brushing his teeth and stops and says “Mommy you’re so beautiful”. OH melt my heart! He seriously is the sweetest thing ever!

• Everything to Jaxson is “tomorrow”, we’ll be getting a book together to read before we go to bed and he’ll say “no we read that book tomorrow” or he’ll be telling us about something that happened at school and say that it happened “tomorrow”. It’s so easy to get him confused if you try to correct him- in his mind its tomorrow and that’s the end of it!

• Jaxson goes grocery shopping with me every weekend, it’s our thing to go right after church together. Well one weekend we get to the car to unload the groceries and the shopping cart starts to roll away with him in it- I grabbed it and said “oh no you almost went away” to which he responded “Mom I’m never alone God is always with me, and he’s always with you too”. I love that he knows that!

• Every night before he goes to bed he gets a bowl of a few pickles- he IS the pickle monster…really anything with salt is his favorite but pickles are the top of that list. So I walk in the kitchen to get a glass of juice and Jaxson says “Is Bailey thirsty”

• Jaxson is all about what’s happening next- if I pick him up from school and we’re going home he wants to know what’s next and then what and then what…its non-stop. And if you have no plan…its like the end of the world! Well yesterday we were talking about birthdays and listing off all of the birthdays through the rest of the year- we ended with it being Jesus’ birthday. This was a new one to him, which led to a lot of interesting questions we weren’t exactly prepared for. The greatest one was “Will Jesus come down to blow out his candles for his birthday”.
