Annual Pumpkin Patch Trip

This past weekend we headed out to Marble Falls for our annual fall trip to the pumpkin patch. Our early arrival was very helpful as it has become quite popular and we were able to bypass the long lines. The kids had a lot of fun on the horses:
Bouncing on the blob:
Painting the pumpkin:
Feeding the goats:
Walking the corn maze:
And just having fun :)

Pool progress update

Last week we hit a major milestone on the pool construction-gunite phase! We've gone from wood and rebar to seeing the pool take shape! It was really neat to be home while they were doing to work and have an opportunity to take pictures as it all was going on.

The next phase will be the masonry work which we are hoping to see start next week. Things are moving along, and we are so excited at the progress!

1st Grade

Jaxson is doing so good in first grade! I swear I always think he is bored because he is so smart! Every night he reads to us out of a chapter book-he's currently reading at a level up, into the 2nd grade!

His report card showed he is doing great! We even had a surprise in the report card-a copy of the local newspaper where a drawing and writing of his was published!
It says "I went to a festival on Saturday. And I went rockwall climbing"
He was also awarded for excellent behavior and attendance!
We are so proud of Jaxson and his determination to excell. He always strives to do the best and he's enjoying it all along the way! Way to go buddy!!!

Colorado Girls Trip

Last week Bailey and I headed out to Colorado for a nice little girls trip. Bailey got sick right before we left, so she wasn't quite herself the whole time but we still had a great time. She was so excited to ride on the "yairplane" as she calls it.
While Bailey was watching her movie I was watching the most amazing colors in the sky, there was one point that every color of the rainbow was showing from the sunset. It was beautiful!!
On our first day we took our time in the morning enjoying the cooler weather and relaxing a bit. We headed over to the Red Rocks area, did a very short walk over there, ate lunch in Golden and enjoyed their beautiful downtown area!

The rest of the day was filled with crafts, dinner out, driving by their soon to be new house and movie night- for a house with no kids they have a lot of kid stuff that was a lot of fun for Bailey....crafting with Nikki is always a blast!
The next day we drove out to Estes park and visited the Rocky Mountain National Park
What was left of the fall leaves
This was at Bear Lake- it was gorgeous....cold but amazingly beautiful! I could totally go back to the Rocky Mountain National Park and see something different every time! AMAZING!
It was Elk Season and we saw so many of them which was so cool to see. This guy was calling for his ladies- which also sounded like a child screaming....no ladies came running in while we were there:) And then these two beautiful bucks were on the side of the road as we were driving out. Gorgeous!

The next day we headed out to Anderson Farms to their pumpkin patch. I've been to a lot of pumpkin patches, but this one would have to be at the top of my list. The gorgeous mountains in the background certainly help put it at the top of the list...but the best part- you get to go right out INTO the gardens to pick out your pumpkin! I love this idea, what a neat experience.
This is the worlds largest man made pumpkin- I think the sign said it weights 7000 tons or something like that- i could totally have that wrong, but it was a lot!

And of course more crafting- painting the pumpkins! Brilliant idea! I really think I like this idea better than carving- we'll have to see if the family buys into this one this year. Bailey loved it!
The last night there we headed out to a Brewery for dinner in downtown Boulder. Bailey was a riot! We really enjoyed the evening, and the amazing sunset certainly made it even better!

Thank you Colorado for the amazing weather and to Nikki and Gabe for the wonderful hospitality. The next time we come will be to the new house, I think I'll start saving for that trip now so we can all make the trip together! :)
