Memorial Day 2010

This morning we headed out with the Norwood family for a small gathering to honor Byron at his grave site. While a day off from work is great- celebrating the real reason for Memorial Day is WAY more important.

After a great BBQ lunch gathering with the Norwoods we headed home. It has been really hot here and we got Jaxson a new sprinkler to help cool off outside. He hasn't exactly been a sprinkler fan in the past years but I hoped a year later he'd be more into it...nope! This picture just make me laugh so hard! He did everything he could to run around the sprinkler- the neighbor girl even came over to play and even with her he still was not interested. We'll keep trying.

Training Success

We have had an exciting 3 days potty training and we couldn't be more proud of Jaxson. I'll give a quick re-cap of our days:

Day 1:
We started off the day by getting excited about our new big boy underwear. Next we got a big box and went around the house collecting diapers to put in the box and send to Baby Carter. We wrote a note to Baby Carter about being a big boy, taped up the box and Jaxson carried the box to the garage and that was the end of the diapers.

We filled the day with lots of activities and lots and lots of juice. He did SO great. We had a few accidents, but nothing major at all. The day ended with a grand total of 6 pairs of underwear for the day.

Day 2:
We were feeling really good about the day before and decided to make a few trips away from the house to see how Jaxson would do. After the afternoon nap we headed over to a party at the neighbors house and Jaxson had a blast playing with all of the kids. He did not have one accident at all, we were SO proud of him. After the party we headed out to Lake Georgetown to see Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Jared. They have a travel trailer which has a different potty than Jaxson is use to...which he loved! We made a few un-necessary trips into the potty just to try the flusher. We had one little "oops" while we were there but otherwise he did great and told us multiple times that he had to go to the bathroom. We ended day 2 with 3 changes of underwear.

Day 3:
The final day Jaxson amazed us all and finished off the day with ZERO accidents. We kept this little man very busy and very distracted today so this last day was a huge test for him. This morning we went to church. After church and a nap we made a trip up to the library to play and get some new books. After that Colton and his family came over to play. The boys ran, jumped, screamed, chased and had a absolute blast!! They were both practically dripping in sweat from going non-stop and Jaxson kept up with that little four year old without missing a beat. He reminded us several times during the day that he was a big boy and his mickey mouse underwear was dry- we couldn't be more proud.

This sticker chart shows the hard work that he put into the last three days and the final certificate is his success in showing us that he IS a BIG BOY!!!

The Countdown Begins...

I made a commitment here that over Memorial day weekend I would begin a 3 Day Potty Training with Jaxson. Well tomorrow is the big day- and Jaxson has no idea what is about to happen. Me on the other hand, I've been preparing!

I've got stacks of undies, salty foods, treats and toys...and lots...and lots...and lots of juice!
Tomorrow morning I will wake up and for the next 3 days be ready for the ups and downs of what I'm sure will be the most difficult thing I have ever done- but I am ready!

Wish me the best....let the countdown begin!!!!!!!!

Live United at RR Express

Last night's Round Rock Express game was a United Way of Williamson County "Live United" night- we had some pretty amazing seats...it pays to know the head lady at United Way

We had a very full weekend and Jaxson had a blast! He got to spent lots of time with Carter and he enjoyed showing him all of his toys....showing and extended sharing of the toys...another story.

The Raines family also came into town and this little cutie came over to play. By the time the second baby showed up Jaxson was doing fake "baby talk" to get some attention. I think our little man is use to the spotlight a little too much!
He was not thrilled at the extra passenger in this photo!

These two made their way around the house at lightning speeds and tested just how "baby-proofed" everything really is- I think we passed. After a wagon ride, bike ride and swing ride- every one was happy as can be.

Jaxson was happy to be back in his swing and not on the other end pushing the babies.

After everyone left the little neighbor girl came over to play and Jaxson was in heaven- he didn't have to share anything with her :) Jaxson really likes her and tries so hard to do everything that she does too. Our little man is growing up so fast.

3 Day Potty Training

Okay- I'm putting this out there to make sure I stick with it. In TWO weeks from today I will begin a 3 day potty training process with Jaxson...yikes! I read about this program this lady guarantees and my friend happened to have the e-book that I read through. I can do it, I will do it...Jaxson will be potty trained in 3 days. The article says its a single parent process (the one thing I frown upon with all of it- but if it works its worth it), you basically go cold turkey on diapers. This little man will be full of juice every waking moment of those 3 days...which I can already tell he will totally love! The lady said her son went through 46 pairs of underwear on day one...oh brother! You have to commit to being home for 3 full days to devote 100% of your time to the training. Jaxson has the Friday before Memorial Day weekend off from school so that'll give us 4 wonderful.....long....exciting....I'm trying to pump myself up here....days of training. But the end result will be worth it all... right?

This awesome look- minus the diaper- will be the ensemble for the weekend :)

The week

This week the weather has been humid and muggy- but today we are getting some rain. Wouldn't you know that we move into the house and the rain finally stops. We are pretty excited about the rain coming in :)
This week Jaxson has discovered that he can pick up the dogs. He is happy about this new discovery...the dogs....not so much. It is so funny watching him chase the dogs around the yard saying "sit, sit" so he can pick them up.

Jesus Loves Me

A while ago Scott and Jaxson were driving in the truck and Scott would point to a church and tell Jaxson about how Jesus lived there. This morning we were driving by this huge church that we pass everyday. Jaxson and I had this conversation:

Jaxson: "Mama, Jesus lives there"

Me: "Yes sweetie he does"

Jaxson: "That's his town mama"

Me: "Oh yeah, what do you know about Jesus Jaxson?"

Jaxson: "Jesus loves me"

How sweet! I just love the little things that he says. Jesus loves me happens to be one of his favorite songs. When I sing it to him he'll tell me "I like that song". He even asked me while shopping in Hobby Lobby to sing to him. I love it!

Team McSpadden

This morning Jaxson and I participated in a March of Dimes walk in memory of Landon and Gavin McSpadden. These are Melissa & Michael McSpadden's twin boys that were born 17 weeks early. It was a very special walk supporting a very special family.

It was a 3 mile walk and Jaxson did great! I brought snacks to keep him entertained, which he appreciated but the sites along the walk kept him from getting bored. There was a great group of people who attended and we all wore matching shirts. I'm so glad we were able to go to the walk.

The Bike Duo

Before & After

The grass is in and looks fantastic! I am scared to see what our water bill will look like after the many hours of watering we have already done in just 24 hours! I don't have a before pic of the back- but here's a few before & after shots.

Swing

Jaxson is so excited to have his own swing and we are so excited to finally have a nice tree with shade to hang the swing on.

If you notice the edging on the ground and think it looks weird... it won't at the end of today! We are getting grass and mulch installed right now and it is so beautiful...more pics to come later.

Austin Zoo

Friday we went to the Austin Zoo - I would not call this a Austin "attraction" by any means. Their claim to fame is that 90% of their "residents" are rescue animals- which I didn't know until we left. So my entire time there I was thinking this was the worst zoo ever and all of the rejects from the other zoos. I mean when you see animals with 3 legs, crazy birds with a ton of hair missing and roosters off their rocker it makes you wonder what is going on here. Thankfully Jaxson didn't know the difference and had a pretty good time. I don't have any great pictures- well because of what I've already said. But these videos are pretty hilarious!

Been there done that....sorry, but I wouldn't recommend this zoo to anyone.
