Elmo's World

Jaxson LOVES Elmo- what kid doesn't, right? We have several Elmo videos and a couple pretty funny toys that he always gets excited about and breaks into dance with. It's seriously the cutest thing. Enjoy!

Home is where the heart is....

"Home is where the heart is"- that's what has helped me emotionally get through this move. It was a whole lot more emotional than either of us expected. But yesterday as I was on my way to sign the paperwork for our closing- I heard this song on the radio & thought to myself- Home is where the heart is- that was what my heart needed to hear. The closing went surprisingly well and smooth, which we are thankful for. The buyers are first time home buyers in their 60's- how crazy is that. They were so excited to get into the house, that makes me happy to know that they are in love with the house as much as we were.
We're settling in quickly into the townhome. Shuffling around the dogs & entertaining Jaxson seems to take us outside for walks a lot.
Here's some pictures of Jaxson:

Movin' On Out

Well tomorrow is the offical day that we are movin' on out! Last night we cleared out the kitchen, worked on the garage, closets and backyard. Four years of dust was hiding in many unknown places- YUCK! This afternoon Scott & I are going to our "temporary housing" apartment to get the cabinets childproofed, move stuff from the fridge/freezer, move clothes, clean etc. Then tomorrow morning the real work starts. We have a lot of great helpers- both family and friends who are coming over to help. Then we can offically say we are Georgetown residents. We'll be packed like sardines in this apartment, but once we're done with this move we can focus again on the construction preparation at the new house- then i'll be excited. Monday we are offically closing on the house- the buyers are very anxious to get in the house. It'll be good to get to meet them.
These last few nights at the house have been a little sad- to think of the many "firsts" that we have had here. It's been a great place to live and share many memories as a family. This whole process of purchasing the land, selling the house and now moving seems like it's all happened so quickly. So far everything has gone very smoothly- I pray the next phase in this journey will be the same.

15 Month Check Up

Jaxson had his 15 month check up- here's the stats:
Weight= 24.6 lbs (46% for his age)
Height= 31 in (64 % for his age)
He had to get two shots, which he really did not like & they were probably the most painful that he has had so far. Developmentally he is right on track.
They had a little kids table in the room and he settled right in playing with the toys and jabbering on about nothing. He was completely unphased by the fact that he was at the doctors- I hope he stays that way.
All in all he checked out perfectly :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day- and an Irish blessing for the day-

Dearest Father in Heaven,
Bless this child and bless this day
Of new beginnings.
Smile upon this child
And surround this child, Lord,
With the soft mantle of your love.
Teach this child to follow in your footsteps,
And to live life in the ways of
Love, faith, hope and charity.

The Arboretum

Today we really needed to get out of the house & go somewhere- so we headed over to The Arboretum. After a tasty treat at Amy's Ice Cream we went down the lawn to the fountain and the cows. I thought for sure Jaxson would have been interested in the cows, but the water shooting out of the fountain was way more fun. He jabbered on & on, calling it "Wa Wa", pointing to the water and even wanted to get up on the ledge- but didn't want to touch the water. When we went over to the cows he immediately said "Mo Mo" - which was so cute because we talk about cows in books all of the time but never heard him make the cow sound. The whole time we were over at the cows he was pointing at the fountain. It was so nice to get out of the house- the constant site of packing boxes & nothing on the walls or cabinets is really depressing.

SOLD

Do you see what I see...that's right- the house is officially sold! Man it's good to see that sold sign there & not have the uncertainty of the offer. The appraisal came through so we are good to go. In 2 weeks from yesterday we are moving- its certainly sad to leave this house, but we have lots of good memories to take with us. My mom came over yesterday to help me & packed like a mad woman....wow, that woman can pack! Today Scott & I emptied the attic and packed the cabinets in the garage- we made a big dent in the packing this weekend...I needed that because I was super stressed about getting it all done. Luckily we've had lots of help entertaining our very energetic Jaxson and today he took a nice long nap, which was very helpful. All in all we are on good track for moving on March 21st. We hope to be able to update you on the construction starting in the next couple of months.

Kite Festival

Today we went down to the Kite Festival at Zilker Park. The weather was perfect, the kites were up everywhere you looked and we can say we safely made it out of there without getting hit by a kite. Jaxson had a great time walking around - away from the kites :) We'll have to go back when the trees get their leaves- its so beautiful down there! The Kite Festival will certainly be on our list of things to do each year as a family, it was lots of fun!
