First Day of 1st Grade

Jaxson had his first day of 1st grade today...wow! This is his last year at Liberty Hill Elementary- crazy to think he's the big kid on campus. This morning he was telling me all about what 1st graders do and educating me on how its different than Kindergarten. :) How cute does he look in his first day outfit, all about the baseball!

Bailey got her new backpack at school yesterday and she was so excited to do hers just like Jaxson!

Saturday's Family Fun!

Today we had a great day enjoying some Austin favorites as a family. The weather was perfect this morning for a trip on the Zilker Zephyr Train at Zilker Park.

Next we headed down to Lady Bird Lake for a canoe ride.

The water was beautiful I couldn't get over how everything was so clear. We saw huge fish, huge turtles and the water was pretty chilly if you put your hands in it.

Once we made it back it was warming up, we decided to just dip our feet in the water....both kids had different plans and soaked their clothes. No big deal we had extras, but it was a little chilly for them!

This picture cracks me up, Jaxson was holding onto Scott to make sure he didn't slip as they were going down to the waterfall area. Bailey quickly followed suit and grabbed onto the back side of Jaxson. I couldn't help but laugh at this little shirtless train they had going on!

Our last stop was Lucky's food trailer on 5th, they make the most amazing Fire cooked italian sandwiches. 

What a fun day filled with memories, smiles and laughs. I am so thankful we live in such a neat area where we can do little excursions like this as a family. We certainly are blessed to have an amazing family to do special days like this together.

1st Grade Meet the Teacher

Last night was Meet the Teacher at Liberty Hill Elementary- its still crazy to me to think he's already in 1st grade! Our kindergarten teacher was so amazing, we knew there would be big shoes to fill! While we were picking up supplies a friend of ours mentioned that Jaxson's teacher was great, so that made us feel great.

This is Jaxson helping Daddy sort out the supplies, label the folders and pick out his desk. 

Bailey entertained herself by sitting at another persons desk and coloring in their spiral....oops. She was quiet which was the key! And seriously doesn't she look so grown up holding that pen and focusing on writing :)

This is the desk Jaxson picked, he looks so big here! We are so excited for him, 1st grade is going to be great!

Here is Mrs. Splawn, I'm still having a hard time saying her name- but she does seem very sweet. We arrived at meet the teacher kind of late which was great because we were able to visit with her more. 

Tuesday is his first day, we are SO excited!

Fun Day with Mom

Friday I had a special day with the kids. It was so much fun preparing for the day and taking them around to their surprises. They are so funny- they love surprises, it was awesome watching their faces light up when each surprise would be announced. First up breakfast...don't they look so excited about their day! I love these two!

 

Our first stop for the day was the Thinkery, Jaxson went there for his end of school field trip- he was so excited to find out we were going there together.

For lunch we walked around the lake to the food park, taking a quick stop to snap a picture with this random cow.

We ate at the Short Bus- it wasn't anything special in my book- but I'm a Thundercloud fan so I'm hard to please. Bailey had seen the ice cream man prior to lunch so she wasn't thrilled to eat anything that didn't resemble ice cream!

One our way to try to find the ice cream man we found these ducks down by the lake. The kids had a great time chasing them around and trying to catch them.

Our next stop was...Amy's Ice Cream. We never did find the ice cream man and really what's better than Amy's Ice Cream on a hot day.

We had a great day together and I really enjoyed the extra time with the kids. Watching them play together at the Thinkery melts my heart. We certainly are blessed!
